Unpack my car after the camping trip. Everything stinks of smoke. But I haven't unpacked it yet and I really need to.

    The world had been yelling
Since the day you were born

Hubby hung mine out a week ago. I haven't bought it in yet. I just get things in when I need them.

Reading another book. I think I'll start today. Yeah..

I have to admit that my laziness sometimes overwhelms me. But if I overcome it - I can do almost everything possible.

Working at a gas station on a very busy corner here in Vegas. It was incredibly hectic. We had to count the cigarettes every hour & do a blind cash drop every two hours. Changing the paper in the gas pump receipt dispensers was a nightmare & had to be done about twice a shift. Counting inventory on the go, watching out for shoplifters & people too drunk to buy more booze... I can multi-task my ass off, but at that gas station, I never felt like I really knew what the heck was going on. I ended up quitting after 3 days.

Setting aside the one that put me into a wheelchair for several months, it HAS to be telemarketing. Selling "Billy Barty [extended life] light bulbs". I lost a whole lotta sleep, working there. And agonized over it almost the entire [tech] school year. Luckily, it was only on weekends. But! It *still* makes me cringe, thinking of how many people I had CONNED into buying the stupid things. Enough that the business owner wanted to make me supervisor, after just 6 months, and teach all the other call center grunts how to do it right.

(I told him to shove it up his ass and handed him my headset, instead. I hated that job, big time.)

Worked graveyard shift on a commercial dairy back in '76. Milked those poor cows (2200 of 'em) three times a day. I did pretty much everything to be done there: milking pit, outside driver (drive cows from barn to feed pens, bring next batch to barn), inside driver (push cows inside barn into milking pits), bottle fed the calves, etc. Came home many a morning covered in cow shit from head to toe; my mother would make me undress on the back porch before I could even come in the house. Worst part of it all? Sticking my arm all the way into a cow's ass to do artificial insemination. Worst. Job. Ever.

Customer service/Inside sales rep. Now, it wasn't about the job description as most would apply it. What I was told during the interview process all sounded normal. It was a small dictatorship, consisting of the owner, an office mgr., me, and a handful of guys downstairs in the manufacturing area. When I started, I was told, everything here is part of customer service - and he basically had me making copies, answering the phone and taking detailed messages for him, checking incoming supplies - and by this I mean counting individual paper clips in the little boxes to ensure he hadn't been cheated. He yelled at everyone about everything, called people names, etc.

Hospitality. Hated working for my dad most of the time and hated going to work when everyone else knocked off at 5.

Oh, I also despised the nearly-unpaid oncall that I had to manage for most of a year by myself when I worked at a Radiology facility. I was required to be onsite for at least 6 hours a day (Mon-Fri) and was on call the rest of the time (quite literally). For that year I had exactly:
                        0 uninterrupted meals with families
                        0 uninterrupted movies
                        0 uninterrupted vacations
                        0 uninterrupted illnesses
0 respect or consideration from people in higher positions in the company
                        and almost 0 uninterrupted sleep.

Fortunately, I had 1 interrupted job that left them with 1 fewer reliable techs - something that some 6 years later they are still struggling with.

I have had a few unpleasant work experiences, each wretched in its own way. On one I enjoyed the work but had to deal with an overbearing owner's spouse who thought he was a genius but was a total screw up. A store I worked at in high school seemed like it was affiliated with the mob. We were forced to pay into the union ... by the store manager. I never saw anything good for employees come of it, just paying to have a minimum wage job. I was only there for a couple of months, so maybe there was a picnic or something the next year. Um, rather have the money, right?

I think when all attempts at conflict resolution have been exhausted if it's due to conflict. When communication has broken down to the point of giving up and you no longer feel anything but irritation in the other person's presence.
