Its just plastic, I theorize that because of its many strong bonds it resists energy. This is suppoerted by it being a poor conductor of both heat and electtricity. Im sure if someone had enough plastic on it could be harder.

Huh...I would have figured that since most coats these days are made almost entirely out of synthetic compounds, it would buffer just as well if not better then a tiny piece of thin plastic. I have to confess, I'm surprised by that one :P

...if that's the case, then wouldn't there also be certain media that would make it easier to access another human? High humidity versus dry? Public swimming pool? Wouldn't the salt content of the ocean make it almost stupidly easy to send out tendrils towards other swimmers?

Those sythetic compounds are also relatively simple and big coats are mostly air pockects. Weather dosent matter to me but if its cold I find it much more difficult. Ive never swam in the ocean so im not sure ;D and I haven't been to a public pool in so long I don't remember. Cttjim can you get energy from the weather? Like during storms or by sitting in sunlight (im extremly photosensitive so I can't stay in the sun for extended periods) I would think the electrical energy charged in the air and clouds would be even easier than appliances for tapping, not to mention more powerful. Or even gain energy from the movement of the wind? I heard it could be done but I've only done so through rituals than my psi vamp ppowers

Okay, let's see... large people aren't insulated by layers of fat, sorry if anything there's more energy there. Do you know how much effort it takes a 300lb person to stand up and move around?
Although it still depends highly on the person. some small people have really really high energy. It has little to do with mass or body type. However, being overweight (or underweight, trust me!) can lead to health complications which can lower your excess energy as your body uses it up to keep you going and doesn't replenish as readily. We talked a little before about how nobody will feed off the sick, either out of moral standards or because they don't want to get tainted energy if they're a poor filter.

And for the record, I do like chubby girls, but more for my eyes than for my energies My anaconda don't want none unless you got... oh hey, there's my wife. Hi honey.

I haven't swam in the ocean since I was a kid, so I can't say much about salt water. Bear in mind it's not all by the same rules as electrical conductivity. But it's a good rule of thumb to assume that if something is easier for a spark, it's easier for a tendril.

Winter causes problems, but not necessarily for what you'd think. It's not just the synthetic-fiber parkas all over. It's the fact that, when it's cold, we all "huddle in" and conserve our energies. Very few people have a lot of leakage, because - both consciously and unconsciously - they are directing everything they have inward to shield themselves against the cold and steel their determination to get from A to B.
Plus I'd feel really guilty draining someone when it's -30 Celsius out! They need all they got!

Well that's complex... I do love a good hailstorm, but I don't think it's for that reason. Sunlight and I have a strange relationship. I get overwhelmed easily by it - a walk to and from the mall in high summer leads to an afternoon of headache, drowsiness and mild nausea. At the same time, I worship a heavily sun-associated Goddess. I have to respect that She has Her reasons, and I try to let Her energies in when my life forces me out into the light. It's just... a little too much, I suppose.
I'm a fire-aspected person, so I could probably use flame, but I prefer not to burn down my apartment.
Lightning... lightning might be colossally dumb of me to tap. It exists in the clouds as a static charge. It only flows when the cloud's negative charge builds up enough to force a bridge to the ground. So in order to really draw from it, I'd pretty much be encouraging it to use me as a lightning rod. I'll pass, thanks.
Wind has never held much draw for me. I don't connect to it. Earth, too.

Im a wind assotiated person, and I can't really go into sunlight for too long without spf but candels are wonderful my mum lights aton of them when we have company and I feed on them when she does. Aha, I was waiting for someone to ask about that. In fact, some people do analyze the cause. I've heard a lot of theories - popularly, folks claim there's a broken or missing chakra at the head or navel. Every now any then someone goes around saying "I'll help cure your disorder!"

The short answer is, it's part of who I am. It makes me me. If I changed the way my energy systems work (assuming it's possible), I run the risk of changing a lot more. I could lose abilities with needs. I could close exits and find myself without the empathy I experience, which for an emotionally closed-off person like me could be extremely bad. I could lose the ability to do anything with my energy, by locking it into some sort of recycling mode.

Commonly, offense is taken at the idea of "curing" vampirisms. In some cases it comes off a lot like "curing" gays (don't worry, no offense is take here). It implies it's a disease, and attaches a stigma. Most folks would rather find a way to use it for good - helping a high-energy person level out, or using the ability to "overcharge" to get things done that one wouldn't have the fortitude for otherwise.

Then there's the religious aspect for some. The idea that you use the gifts you're given, and pay the price for them, because that's what [deity of your choice] intended when you were created, and to balk at that would be to deny the will of [deity].

I have found that with this, though there is no cure, there is a way to manage this condition. I am grateful that I have the abilities and gifts that I have though I know I do gripe about it many times. I also look at people dumb founded when they say that they would love to have the psychic abilities that I have. I can't grasp that concept for some of my gifts. However these abilities do help me with the connection of others. They also help me know people better.

I've heard the term "energy feeder," but it still implies "parasite."
Besides, pagan pride took back "witch." Maybe "Vampire" can mean something beyond glitter and/or predators some day.

I've heard the term 'parasite' applied to all sorts of terrible behaviors. My ex-girlfriend was a parasite; she sat on her ass playing the sims all day and never did anything to deserve the free rent and food. Man, i hated her by the end of that.
