    Teflon, the "cop killer." There is no record of any police officer ever being shot at with a teflon bullet. Criminals tend not to go out of their way to get magic bullets.

    But, there really is no need for a citizen to have them.

        Jumping in here...I think part of the reason people are concerned is not so much about the type of ammo but about the ban itself. As in, thinking it may just be a matter of time before other ammunition is subject to be banned. Most of the people raising hell don't even have/shoot this type of ammo to begin with. On a side note, I personally think the excuse they're using is rather umm...convenient, for lack of a better word. As a retired police officer, in my experience you are more likely to have some moron try and run you over than you are to be shot by one of these "now suddenly dangerous" rounds. If they're going to do this, that's fine...it would just be nice if there was a little more honesty involved. Just my 2 cents...your opinion may vary. :=):

              That's my fault...what I should have said is that the majority of people that *I* have talked with (I currently work in a gun shop and have been shooting for 30+ years now) have indicated that *they* are not so much concerned with the caliber being banned as they are the ban itself. Of this particular group, most of them do not have/shoot this particular caliber. My previous statement was based solely on my own personal experience...my apologies for being unclear.

                  No, no! Not you - I was actually referring to the slippery slope that some people believe leads inevitably from "ban armor piercing rounds" to "Gooberment confiscates all our guns and turns us into slaves."

                    Lol! Oh, ok...yeah, I hear that A LOT at the shop I work at. Same thing with the lack of .22 ammo in our area...it's apparently a conspiracy.

                      I personally know people who feel that way. They're kind of obsessed with keeping their guns hidden, and with how they'd protect their property when the big bad gov't. comes knocking on their doors asking for their guns. They have a plan for the whole thing.

                        You know if the Gov comes knocking,they may knock with a tank like they did at Waco. Even an automatic small arm is still a small arm. Thing is it is not all that hard to make someone dead if that is the aim...

                        Just saying,paranoid is not enough to stop anything. single people are not an army,and even 10,000 people are not an army with no leader.

                          I know. But in their own minds, five guys in camo are gonna hold off the combined forces of the U.S. military. Then they're going to live in caves for the rest of their lives, because that's freedom, don'tcha know? LOL

                            Think is some people have done this,rebels in other countries. Thing is they never won,they never actually lost ether,they just stayed rebels and hid in the jungles. Like you said,free is relative.

                              My standing position on a whole lot of would be "freedom fighters" is that they're cannon fodder while people who might have better odds figure out what to do. Small arms give options but they don't give nearly as many options as some people like to think.

                                It's 50% ignorance, 25% bravado, and 25% beer.

                                Me, I feel if the serious stuff hits the fan, I want to be at ground zero. I've lived long, I've prospered, and I don't want to be left wandering around in a nuclear winter kind of scenario. Just beam me the heck up.
