Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

Finishing up Imagining the World into Existence, Normandi Ellis, and it is thickly written, often more like poetry than prose. I will probably read it again.

Ugh. I have moved on to this lovely book: http://www.amazon.com/Central-Servic...chnical+manual at least I think that's the one. Ugh. I hope I can learn fast. I wanna get back to my mind numbing reading material.
We are what we are. Nothing more, nothing less. There is good and evil among every kind of people. It's the evil among us who rule now. -Anne Bishop, Daughter of the Blood

I wondered if he could ever understand that it was a blessing, not a sin, to be graced with more than one love.
It could be complicated; of course it could be complicated. And it opened one up to the possibility of more pain and loss.
Still, it was a blessing I would never relinquish. Love, genuine love, was always a cause for joy.

For me, no. Since we're trying to buy this piece of property out in the boonies, I've picked up all of my green living tomes... Gonna build windmills & keep chickens & compost stuff.

(I never actually finished House of Leaves, myself.)
It was ok. It definitely didn't live up to the hype, and I could totally see the people who made The Fountain or Cloud Atlas turning it into a surreal cluster-headache of a movie.

So I finished listening to Hugh Howey's I, Zombie. And it really effed me up in the head. I've been sitting with it for a day now. I wasn't able to write a proper review. Still didn't in the end. I wrote something else. About me. Something personal. A secret I hold. You can read my review here called: I, zombie, You zombie, me, zombie, blue zombie

To pull myself out of the severe funk of this book I am now listening to 2 more up beat audiobooks.
"Alone on the Ice, the greatest survival story in the history of exploration' by David Roberts.

and...The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath narrated by Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Because these two 'uplifting' books are like going on a trip to Disneyland after listening to that book. That's how effing depressing it was.

Lol. Thanks. I like it because it's just about books and books and books. I get such great recommendations there. Plus I like looking at my growing list. It's my one true childhood love. And audiobooks has brought that back to me (because of crappy eyesight)

Finished The Bell Jar. Seriously, my life. My mother's life. A great narration.

Still listening to the Antarctica journey. But added Charlie Huston's No Dominion. More Vampire Noir detective story!

Yeah, but Plath's prose is delicious.

I'm currently reading "The Complete Works of H. P. Lovecraft". Found myself on a kick yesterday - watched as many Lovecraftian films as I could find, too.

I finished reading The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang. It was such a sad book. I am now reading Stalin.
