    Discovering that I share a birthday with Robert E. Howard, the father of sword and sorcery, makes me smile... and want to smite something with my battle axe...

      I have the highest post test (It's this new acessment thing the state is doing) grade in my psychology class. Then again it's only an 88 so our class must've done terribly...

          Seeing hubby finally get wheeled towards me after his surgery today.

          The five hours of waiting beforehand was not so great though.

              Did you see the Solomon Kane movie? It didn't get much press, but it is one of the best Howard-based movies I've seen. Much better than the Conan movies...

                    Yes, it's actually available in full on YouTube. I liked it, but I think the premise may have come from the old Marvel comics (though I confess it's been a few decades since I read the Howard tales). In the Schwartznegger Conan movies (as well as the Red Sonja movie), the studio had the rights to use the characters, but not the REH stories, and those movies were scripted by Marvel comic book writers. I'm not sure if the same held true of the recent Conan film, but I liked it; it had more of a Howard feel, seems to me. I've been waiting for Schwartznegger to be old enough to play King Conan... we'll have to wait and see...
