OMG Kitteh!

My friend in Canada and his fiance got a bird a few months ago. It's a kind of small parrot, but I can't remember what kind it is. Anyway, I had no clue that birds could be so affectionate. Seeing the pics he posts on facebook is amazing. The guy has such a big personality for such a small creature!

Today I was able to get pretty close to them. Well, one of the kittens, at least. Momma took off into the bushes as I got nearer, but at least she didn't bolt like she used to, and one of hte kits followed her but the other sat there for a while as I moved bit by bit. I got maybe fifteen feet away before the little one decided to go join the others in hiding.

Do you ever get the urge to strip naked and run around in the rain? It's just one of those days (well, not naked). Normally the grey, wet weather might annoy me, but today it's just perfect! I have the lake to myself, and it's just beautiful and I smell grass and elderflower and my clothes are soaked but it's so mild it's not cold, and the rain is peaceful and cleansing lovely feeling.

I'm inspired. I've got books. And soup. And I might go out* for the third time this day. Just because I can. Yay.

*going out = wandering around the town, nothing more festive. But it's cool. I can get to know places. And routes to avoid face-to-face preachers and the like.

I showed the shark drawing I made last week to a coworker who has some experience in the professional arts field and he was impressed. Whether he's just saying it to be nice, or if he's legit, I'm not sure but I'm going to take the comment to my head and say it's the latter.

I bought shorts. Real ones. Not capris. Not Bermudas. Black slim ones right above my knee. I'm 43 and going to wear shorts in public. I'm feeling nervous.

Thing that makes me smile: the book I'm reading. It's enjoyable. Even though it's Norwegian and translated to Finnish (I try to avoid reading translations of Norwegian and Swedish books). But still, I'm suddenly having faith in both literature and the Finnish language.
