Re: Things that make you smile

I was supposed to work 9-5 tomorrow (mind you I HATE waking up before noon if I can help it). Boss just texted me he messed up the schedule. Can I come in 12-8? Oh yes! I get to sleep in now and still get home at 8:30pm and sleep in the next day to about noon before closing my last shift!

    SLEEP ALL THE SLEEP!!!!!

Corbin's comments on my pizza thread make me smile. Also the fact that I know why I don't allow myself to give up.

Lol. I get up for work every day at 3:45. I can't remember the last time I slept past 6:30.

I spent the day on a self guided walking tour of LA! First stop was Grand Central Market. Followed by a trip to the Rite Aid for honest to goodness Thrifty ice cream! Black cherry and rocky road. Two scoops in a cup for $2.49! Saw a movie being shot down the street. Looks like a movie based in NYC by the fake NYC taxi cab they were filming. No stars though. Listened to the Black Isrealites banter on about the number 666. I skeedaddled past them lest they see my 666 tat and stone me to death. Did some window shopping down Broadway. And got really nostalgic when I saw the closed down Clifton's Cafeteria. Sigh..memories.

Then headed on home and got on the wrong bus. And so spent an extra hour riding around listening to my headphones on the bus that had awesome a/c and reclining seats.

            I'm pooped!

I got a mental picture of Trump and Christie at the debate, knocking over tables a la Teresa in Real Housewives of NJ, and it's cracking me up.

So, it was super warm out today, and I spent most of the day on a secluded island listening to live electronica music, lounging half asleep in the sun. And then I came home, and my new roomie had finished moving in, and he was sweaty from moving his stuff around, and I realized, that damn, my new roommate is kinda sexy.

This is totally going to be a problem.

So we got a shipment in of a new item at work. It's those 'cooling' towels. Pretty much a shammy I guess. I got one for $4.50 with my discount. Proceeded to wet it, ring it out and wear it around my neck on my bike ride home. I'm never ever taking this thing off! I got home, re wet it, and am currently wearing a shawl of coolness around my neck. As the fan hits it, it just feels soooo coooool. The best purchase of the year!

I just got two of these myself! One for me and one for my wife. I'll have it today at work to try it out for the first time, and without any air conditioning in the warehouse, it'll be a trial by fire.

The trick is to use icy cold water to wet it...the cool lasts longer then. Otherwise, you have to wring it out and rewet it fairly often.

                        I have tomorrow off.
Life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

Re: Things that make you smile

                              Just checked my emails and got a message from Memrise. It's an online flashcard/mnemonic program that I'm using in conjunction with a book called 'Remembering the Kanji' to finally finish learning all 2,136 kanji used in Japanese, so I can graduate from children's books and start reading trashy novels (I'm on around 1,300 so far). The message reads;

Congratulations! This week you hit the top 10 of a Memrise leaderboard, leaving more than 500 other learners trailing in your wake!
I've often been in the top-10 (never higher than 6th place though), but I guess not consistently enough over the week to qualify for this most prestigious of honours. ^^

Of course, they then gave me a prize of money off their premium subscription (haha nice try memrise).
夕方に急なにわか雨は「夕立」と呼ばれるなら、なぜ朝ににわか雨は「朝立ち」と呼ばれないの? ^^If a sudden rain shower in the evening is referred to as an 'evening stand', then why isn't a shower in the morning called 'morning stand'?

I just got back from exploring the Thunder Bay River in a kayak.

This was an exceptional use of my alone time! My shoulders ache, but I feel mellow as a sack of jello.
