I never ever worked retail,and the whole "Black Friday" thing kinda makes me wonder. I have never or will I ever go out to shop on a "Black Friday". I think people have kinda been brainwashed into thinking I must have that thing,and save. it is like pouring catnip on a huge bowl,then letting 20,000 cats go at it...

I don't like how Black Friday has spilled over into other countries that don't even have Thanksgiving in November. Like, I guess it kind of makes sense to have a big sale day in the US when there's a holiday on the Thursday and a weekend right after, but in Canada or Europe? It's just a weekday and stores that do it just put stress on their employees before the holidays.

On top of that, we already have our sale days. Canada has Boxing Day on Dec 26 and European countries also do sales after Christmas (the 26th is a public holiday in most countries, though). In some places in Canada, retail employees now have to deal with TWO days of total insanity, only a month apart. Doesn't make the holiday season all that nice, I think.

Here it's mostly a marketing term that companies like Amazon use, but I still think it's stupid.

We don't have anything like thanksgiving either some shops did try to make black friday a thing last year (silly), but i haven't heard anything this year so they probably failed. We have enough sales.

Welp, far as retail goes, the US is trying to give up the whole Thanksgiving idea anyway. Everyone else is just ahead of the curve.

Actually, not totally true. We already have Thanksgiving or something like it in a lot of western countries. Canada celebrates Thanksgiving on the second Monday of October (or usually, the weekend before that...the monday is just the official holiday). Europeans traditionally do harvest festivals at the same time (which is probably where Canada's comes from). They're actually getting less common as fewer people run and work on farms. It's more of a rural thing. Still, some of the green types are getting into it again.

Anyway, it would be kind of silly to do Thanksgiving twice. We have our traditions and you have yours. Black Friday is just businesses trying to cash in on the free advertising offered by American culture.

The 26th is probably the 2nd biggest sale day here. The After-Christmas Sales...

I am thinking it is freaking cold today...high of 27,more of the arctic whatever they last called it.I think on the weather news its supposed to hit a low tonight of about 16.

Got my schedule for next week. I'm off Thanksgiving day (and getting paid for it tank u berry much) AND Friday. Though I still work the weekend..I'm off BLACK FRIDAY!!!!

I don't have to take drugs before I go to work! Woot!

I have to work Black Friday, but I work in a grocery store and in a department that doesn't deal with helping customers. But it wouldn't matter if I did have to help them, because on Black Friday, no one goes shopping at grocery stores. So my store is going to be empty.

The time that sucks for grocery stores is the weekend before the holiday. And I work as a cashier on weekends. That's our "Black Friday." Thank goodness I'll be getting three days off not long after.

Saw where Buffalo is gonna get about 4 feet of snow...got that much in Albany one year in just one night,that year Buffalo got 8 feet in the same time.
