Lju, did they check her thyroid function? If she's an older cat the four most common causes of what you've described is dental disease, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism or a stomach/intestinal tumor. The trick is that HyperT will mask kidney disease (due to increased blood pressure) so if that wasn't part of the blood test you should go back and have it done. They don't always have a palpably enlarged thyroid either, so a physical exam is not enough to rule it out. Also, if her weight doesn't improve then consider finding a vet who can do an ultrasound on her abdomen.

If she's a young cat I suggest a diet trial (as in a hydrolysed protein actual official diet trial). If her teeeth are fine but she's gone off dry food there may be another reason. LOTS of cats have undiagnosed food allergies, because rather than vomiting or diarrhoea like dogs, they will sometimes just 'go off' that food or become really picky. This is due to food aversion, which is a genetic instinct in cats... they will become aversed to food that makes them feel nauseous or unwell.

Yeah she had a blood test for HT, she had it a few years back and we had her taken to and treated by a specialist with some fancy and super-expensive treatment, so she's had a series of blood tests over the past couple of years and that was the first thing they checked her for this time. That's what I was terrified of it being again too when I first found out she was losing weight.

The vet said it was probably a food aversion thing too, and we know she eats wet food without any issues (and she runs up to the food when she hears the can opening) so we're just waiting to see if that resolves the issue at this point. It's just really hard seeing her like that. Other than the weight, she's in good spirits and is doing everything else normally. But it's nice to hear that it's not an unheard of thing. Thanks for your advice and insight.

CSI: Cyber is better than Stalker was but that isn't saying much. The opening was okay but it isn't particularly great and the one benefit to their tech is that they didn't try to explain a few of their sillier moments because they wouldn't have done well.

So remember my frugal purchase of my vacuum roller brush replacement? Back on Feb 20th? Well the authorization was sitting in my checking account all this time. And I don't know when I was ever going to get my item.

It finally came today. 13 days later. The authorization didn't clear. It just...disappeared. Like it never happened. I guess I got a free brush roller.

I'm very jealous! But I saw original John J. Audubon drawings at Yale University, and the real Mona Lisa when it came to NYC in the 60's, and Michelangelo's Pieta at the NY World's Fair in the 60's, and I held hands with David Cassidy while he sang "I Think I Love You". So there. LOL

I just remembered about how my brother and I used to play act The Princess Bride when we were kids. We both thought Inigo Montoya and Wesley's sword fight was the coolest, and for ages we thought all sword fights were accompanied by banter. We used to sword fight with sticks and banter at each other.
