Re: What Are You Thinking About?

I'm thinking that I need to stop letting emotional crap get to me, and face the fact that if my father was any sort of decent human being he'd have been much more active in my life instead of just letting me hang in the wind, never knowing how many times I was in dire straits.

I'm not able to do it either. It's called a credit card. Not saying it's right...but it's how I do things.

I suspect it's how a lot of people do things. I was once told that most people assume that they'll always have at least one loan against their name for as long as they live, so it becomes the norm for them. But even then, I've run the numbers thousands of times and I just flat don't make the bare minimum. Oh well, maybe one day.

I have to agree here.... I don't know how people do it, do they work 80 hours a week? Both them and their spouse? Because then I could make it work, but it wouldn't be worth it anymore. And stay at home moms, how is that a thing? How do you bring more people into the house and have less income? I don't get it, this boggles my mind.... How much money must everyone else in the world be making, and how is it that I can't? I don't expect investment banker money, but I'd like to live as well as the people I work with... I feel like I missed a memo somewhere along the line....

It's 4 AM. I'm still awake. This is bad.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

Honestly? My mortgage is cheaper for a three bedroom house than rent for a two bedroom apartment was going to be. About $200 cheaper. And I have a big yard, basement, and garage. Decent neighborhood too, instead of living on the verge of ghetto.

I wondered if he could ever understand that it was a blessing, not a sin, to be graced with more than one love.
It could be complicated; of course it could be complicated. And it opened one up to the possibility of more pain and loss.
Still, it was a blessing I would never relinquish. Love, genuine love, was always a cause for joy.

Yeah, I personally have the income to own a home ... However, due to some mistakes made 15-20 years ago, and not being clue-full in more recent years on the intricate ways that a credit score is computed (things like, I just bought things that I needed upfront, and never bothered with credit, and if I could not afford it upfront then I just didn't buy it) ..... I do not actually *have* a score at this point in time that would allow me to be granted a mortgage.

So, at this stage in my life, I have reconciled myself to leasing a place to live from now on out. Which has its benefits, at least for me.

Hmm... see that's what I tend to do. I hate being in debt, it makes me extremely nervous. So most things I own I've been able to either save up for prior to buying it in cash, or buying it up front on the credit card and paying it off in the next statement. The only loans I've ever really taken out were for tuition and I had those all paid off 5 months prior to graduation (they weren't huge loans).

Retail, even full-time retail, just isn't bringing in enough for me to afford a 1-bedroom apartment alone. And with the hubby working only part-time in retail as well... all I can say is I hope at least one of us finds a better job or gleans some home-business inspiration in the future. Just kind of sucks since we're both nearing 30 and by this point we always figured we'd have things figured out financially. Or at least on the right track!

Oh hell, if the husband and I are any indication (I am 42), you still have plenty of time
