Can't physically have one, don't particularly want one, and no kid deserves to have me as a parent.

Are we good with other european citizens? That broadens the field. I hear somewhere in ireland are accepting american refugees.

About Russia Anu, even though the russia put that information out themselves, it's worth considering that dividing your country even more is in their interest... and that information would probably help that goal. Just a thought. Although I don't find it hard to believe.

I'm very, very hungover this morning. In fact, possibly still drunk. My only consolation prize is that the three guys I was out with last night are all coworkers, and they had to start an hour before I do.

It's a good thing I'm not driving heavy machinery today.

There is no way that that wasn't a calculated move straight from Putin, if it somehow wasn't then that guy is probably going to have an unfortunate accident sometime soon.

It did strike me as a bit to convenient,that and who shouts "I got you" when they tricked you. The trick is to not show your hand after you win,when it was a bluff.

I'm thinking far too many things at once, but brain cells are igniting that haven't done so in decades.

I don't know if it's ever been tried but at a guess

1) Bypartisan support or a federal supermajority in favor (good luck, both parties benefit when the other side can't motivate its people)
2) A clear and valid "I abstain" option at the polls. Compelling people to show up and/or mail in absentee ballots may pass muster but there's liable to a very loud argument in court that First Amendment freedom to speak includes freedom not to speak if you don't include a "no opinion" option of some kind
3) A receptive federal court system. If someone gets a compelling case in front of a judge then the whole premise may die.

The other option of course is a Constitutional Amendment. The good part of that is that issues 2 and 3 above can take a hike. The bad news is that the whole issue of mustering adequate support....
It just went from supremely difficult to requiring active and blatant intervention from heaven for the idea to have a chance.

Number 3, is that because your system is based on precedence? Like so one person could win a case related to it, and it would all have to change because a precedence based been set? I don't really understand it. We don't operate like that here.

3 is because of Judicial Review. The court system has the authority to judge whether a given act of government is Constitutional. If a court of sufficient authority finds something in violation of the Constitution then they can nullify the legislation. Now this can be appealed to a degree but if the US Supreme Court rules against something then the matter is dead until and unless it changes its mind. Since trial and appelate judges don't really like having the Supreme Court overrule them, they will generally stick to standing precedent. They don't necessarily have to but not doing it is about as productive as a mod deciding to punish something that the admins have okayed. It'll just end in me overturning the mod judgement so why bother...

Note: I'm not a legal expert and I am oversimplifying certain steps but basically

Just kind of wanting things to settle down,just for a while..It has been a really messed up week so far,Cohen died...and The man from uncle slipped away..and some orange guy somehow ended up leasing that nice white house on the corner. On the good side,people can now enjoy a smoke and watch cartoons and munch on snacks in some places.

So I am thinking,please try not to harsh my mellow,cause my last nerve is looking like a fuse just about now.

Sounds like a smart move. I've managed to fill most of my social media news feeds with kitties and puppies ^^ that lowers stress too.
