          Wait. TMI.
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

That's all. The rest is just lumpy gravy.

My dad (happy father's day dad) taught me the process of critical thinking and the necessity of discipline.
My mother taught me unconditional love and that no matter what that I could get better.

That apparently, love is not enough.

                          Making Mexican rice. I just.Cannot.

The hardest lesson to learn was in finding my voice and never letting anyone take it away. I spent most of my life and all of my childhood with no one as an advocate for me. No one to stand and defend me against the world and all its cruelties. I literally started with learning to say the word 'no'. I spent too many a year on my knees or back (figuratively) trying to not get hurt and make it through the world. I finally stood up and pushed people out of the way. Out of my way. I want to regret some of it. Losing people I thought I loved but didn't or couldn't love me the way I deserved. But I swallow those regrets. And I smile. Because I am my advocate. I am my own protector. And I never stand in my way.

The hardest lesson to learn is that no one can make you feel safe in this world except yourself.

Self-control. Your actions are your responsibility.

They took care of me. I was a really sick baby and child...and am still a sick adult. They took me to the best doctors for my different conditions and I think that every parent should do that.
