I've been away a lot. Sorry, guys. Trying to deal with life in general and admittedly getting a little overwhelmed at times, but things have calmed down and are actually starting to go pretty damn well at the moment if I do say so myself. Still in massive amounts of debt and still trying to figure out a way to manage all the fun stuff on my own, but doing alright. I had my social security hearing in March, and I just got a notice letting me know that the judge ruled in my favor.

My favorite part of the trial was where they had testimony from one of my therapists (the first one--went to her twice total because I wasn't comfortable with the way she did things) who said that I had an alcohol abuse problem. Luckily both the judge and the medical expert at the trial said that this was bull-honkey. The judge asked me about it and I was like, "Well, she asked if I drank, and I said 'Of course I do. I'm 21'." Such bull. I'm still a little offended about it really, especially since I just about the only person in my family who actually -isn't- an alcoholic or a recovering alcoholic. But other than that blow to my ego, the trial went really well. Right now, I'm just waiting for the SSA to decide what's going to happen next. That can take a few more months, but my onset date was listed as October of 2009, so if I get back-pay that will be nice. Really nice.. Even if 25% of it does go to the blood-suckers... I mean lawyers.

I figure even if 25% of it goes to the lawyers, maybe with a year and a half of back-pay I'll be able to start paying on some of the ridiculous amounts of money/various bills that I owe everywhere. That will be good. Awesome even. In the meantime, I'm also looking at getting the hell out of Indiana. Tony (adoptive dad, for those of you who aren't aware of my screwed up family dynamic) and his wife (who never speaks to me, so much so that I didn't know her number when she suddenly started texting me a couple weeks ago) has, in the last week or so after not speaking to me for several months, suddenly become very interested in me and whether or not I won my case/how much money I'll be getting. I told him it was none of his damn business, but now he's all of a sudden very interested in me and just about everything I do. He didn't even want me at his house for Christmas to see my little brother, who will be in California for the next two years, so....

Hmm. Curious, isn't it?

In any case, family situation is obviously still insane. I just need to find somewhere where they...aren't. That will be nice, I think. Very nice. Other than that, nothing much has been going on. I won't be going to Montana this summer with the roomie because I can't afford it, but I'll be staying here and house-sitting and watching the kitties until they get back in November. Whee.

It feels good to be back.
