The older I get the more I realize I want nothing to do with it because it just confuses me and I don't want to be one more ignorant person contributing to this mess... I also realize that we need more informed people voting and if I want to be able to complain I need to inform myself so I can make a valid contribution... but I just don't get a lot of it. And there's nobody that I agree with completely...

I wondered if he could ever understand that it was a blessing, not a sin, to be graced with more than one love.
It could be complicated; of course it could be complicated. And it opened one up to the possibility of more pain and loss.
Still, it was a blessing I would never relinquish. Love, genuine love, was always a cause for joy.

I know full well that I'm a complete ignoramus and half a dope, so I realized that my opinions were probably based on my family, the media, and religion. So, once I came to terms with the fact that I might have always been wrong about the things that I believed, I started to look at the other side, wondering why they had been so demonized.

I took the majority of morals out of my view, which opened me up to the Libertarian and Green parties, where I now feel much more represented. Things like what should be legal and what should not narrowed to basically "if it only hurts you then I don't care," and I care about Healthcare and Education and Women's Rights the most, apparently.

And somehow, Christianity has turned into the "devil" for me now that I pay more attention to politics (albeit begrudgingly).

I've grown more apolitical, started on and developed a lot more contempt for party affiliation as part of a decision process, completely disregarded 'liberal' and 'conservative' camps (both, in terms of social issues and voting), and have become entirely aware of the process, the behaviors, the corruption and the sheer pettiness of politics.

Still, in terms of political philosophy, I still kind of adhere to a democratic republic... except for the median level of corporate involvement, the elitism of candidates, and the complete and utter obliviousness, if not blatant disregard, that comes out of such a self-absorbed and aloof position of perceived power, toward "we the people" and , in fact, everyone not firmly ensconced in a similar upper class, high 6-figure+ income. It sort of disgusts me that my representation, in this government, has never tried to actually LIVE. On no food, no amenities, no bank account, and no money coming in, where they had to sell off all their most prized possessions just to feed their children, for example. Earning minimum wage, holding down 3 jobs, just to pay rent on their studio apartment, that they had to take 'in a bad neighborhood' because it was the only thing they could "afford", other than a cardboard box, under a bridge. That would hangout near the dumpsters of restaurants and grocery stores, hoping to get ANYTHING that even resembled food - even if they had to cut the fuzzy, green part off before they could eat it. Or had been forced to live with roaches and rats as roommates, with no option to evict said roommates.

Oops. That got a little acrimonious. So, uh, yeah. I've grown more and more disenchanted and embittered, over the years, you might say.

My views really have not changed insofar as how I'd like to see things run/done. My level of hope that I may someday actually see some of these views come to fruition has lessened in recent years.

I started out at about age 15 or so as a leftwing socialist. Through the years I have moved on through anarchism until now, where apparently I am a multiple interest extremist and terrorist.
It isn't really me who have changed though, but the political landscape. Back when I was 15 things like social equality, green issues, feminism and so on was covered by the far left (though it should be added that 'far left' in Denmark is very different that 'far left' in say the US). As these parties discovered that having these opinions and working for these things wouldn't get them into government they abandoned them and moved towards the middle. Most of the issues were taken over by the anarchists, but these days they seem more focused on thrasing the nearest MacD than doing anything constructive though.
And according to the powers that be having the opinions I have and holding the values I do makes me quote: 'multiple interest extremist' as well as a terrorist. Never mind that the most agressive thing I have ever done is writing angry letters to newspapers.

So to you question: No, I haven't changed my opinions really, but the political landscape have changed so much that I today find myself standing in a different place than I did 17 years ago. And that without budging an inch. :S

I don't think my political stance has changed much - I'm still a moderate liberal. I've got more of a 'think globally, act locally' philosophy now than 20 years ago, and I'm more of a critical thinker when it comes to how the news reports politics. When I was a teenager, I was an activist for human rights issues - Apartheid, FGM, animals' rights, anti-censorship, you name it. Now I'm a 'lazy facebook activist'.
