I had some depressed times, but a lot of that was from impatience to get out on my own. I was a firm believer in romance, and fairly "Happy Days"- ish. I was already super-organized and purposeful, like I am now. I wrote letters to politicians about Roe v. Wade and equal rights. I listened to Carly Simon singing this line from Anticipation: "...these are the good old days..." and I knew they were. Uncanny ability to see what I'd look back on. The recent death of my high school BF has really had me thinking about all that.

I was literally this girl. I was an original goth girl. Black head to toe from the Salvation army. Black eyeliner and grumpy face. I scared a lot of my class mates. I also transferred hs mid year. So that added to things being 'odd'.

Me too by the end of senior year I was reading public library books since I read all the ones I was interested in.

The kind who was never, ever actually in class. I'd either skip or create so much havoc that the teacher would exile me to the hallway. Or I'd get suspended for the dress code, or insubordination or spend hours in the admin office trying to get various Sabbats off & screaming about calling the ACLU... I was drunk most of the time, too. Finally dropped out three months into my senior year. Best decision I ever made.

life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

              Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

I was that kid in the back of the class who was head and shoulders taller than the teacher, had poor hygiene, dressed strangely, and went out of his way to not talk to anyone. So, basically the guy that everyone was terrified of. Especially during my junior year, which was during the height of the Virginia Tech hysteria.

Naturally I got suspended for something that any other student would just get detention at best, and it was "suggested" that I transfer to another school.

...This got a good deal darker that I thought it would. Here's a cat hugging a teddy bear.
Trust is knowing someone or something well enough to have a good idea of their motivations and character, for good or for ill. People often say trust when they mean faith.

Smart, but totally 'uncool'. Tried really hard to 'fit in'. Never happy with my position. Turned into a bit of a harlot instead.

I had a group of friends that was neither popular nor subculture--there were 550 in my grad class, we had a bit of everything. Some of us did theater, some were in band, a few played sports (like swimming, tennis, cross country, wrestling, football), some were in choir, one was even on the chess team, nearly all of us were honors/AP students, and about half of us have degrees in science as grown-ups (most of us were in the Ecology Club, but that's not saying much--it was the biggest organization in the school, about 300 kids, though only about 50 were really active). We were pretty much the kids that could hang with anyone, because we pretty much got along with everyone...but we weren't actually part of their clique.

I went to 4 different high schools so I got to be a lot of different people, from doper drop out to beauty queen. I decided to go to college and couldn't without scholarships so the last 2 years I was an honor student and blah blah blah. I had no real friends, but no enemies either, and could usually muster a date if I wanted one. I don't think I sorted myself out until I was well into my 20s, but maybe no one does.

when i was in high school i looked like i should have been in elementary... so i wasn't exactly popular. i was the one who ate outside alone during lunch, reading a book, or staring at the clouds. Most people thought i was weird i suppose... but then again, they still do!
