The cats pissed on ours. After thirty years, though, it doesn't seem to matter much anymore
Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

It matters because my name is still unchanged. Cat pee would be better than not existing...

You can always request a certified/registered copy from the Hall of Records in wherever it was you got married. For me it's a yearly thing due to my insurance.

Yeah, apparently it was a far easier to fix situation than I had previously thought, hubby went to the department of vital statistics and got one for $25
                  I feel better now...

And, just to make it special, I'll send you a little bottle of cat pee so you can baptise it...

                        Re: THE RANT THREAD!

When I am having a conversation with two or more people I am more inclined to look at the person who is not talking, even if the other person is talking specifically to me.

I don't really see the point of looking at them, I know what they are doing... they're talking. The person who is not talking might actually do something interesting, plus they are involved in the conversation as well. It's not like I'm ignoring the person who is talking, I can hear them just fine.

They'll also occasionally assume that I am ignoring them; when I am in fact paying more attention to the conversation as a whole than they ever were.

I have never understood people's obsession with having total undivided and enraptured attention. It's not like I'm sculpting their divine revelations onto a golden tablet for posterity's sake. It just makes them seem petty and self important, and worse still pretty much everyone is on their side about it.
Trust is knowing someone or something well enough to have a good idea of their motivations and character, for good or for ill. People often say trust when they mean faith.

Significant portions of humanity can't be bothered to multi-task and/or suck at it when they try. In part, Denarius people think you're ignoring them because with a lot of cases, if someone isn't looking at the active speaker then they really aren't paying attention. Plus, all the factors attached to non-verbal cues kick in. You aren't looking at the speaker so you miss their's and you are looking at something else so they don't know whether any shift in body language on your part is due to them or whatever else you may be looking at. Get better at visually tracking two people at once or be prepared for misunderstandings. There really isn't a win scenario here short of positioning people so you can look at everyone involved in the conversation.
life itself was a lightsaber in his hands; even in the face of treachery and death and hopes gone cold, he burned like a candle in the darkness. Like a star shining in the black eternity of space.

                          Yoda: Dark Rendezvous

"But those men who know anything at all about the Light also know that there is a fierceness to its power, like the bare sword of the law, or the white burning of the sun." Suddenly his voice sounded to Will very strong, and very Welsh. "At the very heart, that is. Other things, like humanity, and mercy, and charity, that most good men hold more precious than all else, they do not come first for the Light. Oh, sometimes they are there; often, indeed. But in the very long run the concern of you people is with the absolute good, ahead of all else..."

"You come from the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve", said Aslan. "And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth; be content."

Got a new book to read, was excited, have not read a new book in a while. I start reading, getting excited, it is well researched, cites sources, detailed. Then I get to the bit where he starts discussing Odin, the norse god of thunder, and his mighty hammer...

Can I just get shot next time?

I'm not sure if I dare ask what book. It might start chain of tirades... or a book burning.
