Even without the messages I hate, it's not even good smut. It's boring, badly-written, repetitive, and clearly written by someone who has NO idea what an actual BDSM scene is like.

I can't wait for someone to write a really popular fan fic of Fifty Shades that gets turned into a movie, it'll be absolute proof that time is cyclical.

I have Plans for that, if I ever get around it, but I don't know if it will be popular because it's not about impossible relationships and really bad porn.

When I was 15 I read The Story of O. Everything is a toddler book after that.

It's hard to take fictional BDSM seriously once you've done some really crazy crap, because most of the stuff you read in romance novels is very bland and vanilla (yes, blindfolds and spanking are very vanilla. You wanna impress me, involve fire).

To be honest, I don't really see anything wrong with vanilla bondage in erotica. Not all erotic fiction involving bondage is written with the BDSM scene in mind, and there are plenty of people who are turned on by the idea of some light bondage but would probably shy away from more intense things. Nothing wrong with writing for those people. As long as it's -good- writing. 50 Shades is not good.

My other issue with 50 Shades is the fact that their relationship seems pretty abusive and he's pretty creepy. I didn't get very far in the book, but in the parts I did read, he outright stalked her.

Danie you don't like creepy?????? I feel it adds a certain stockerish vibe to the relationship. I think a little anxiety (which could be classified as anticipation?) like when is he going to pop up is fun..... Like I said I didn't read it but the ladies in my life that are reading make me not want to come near it even more. I read tons and I mean tons and besides my mother not very many other women in my life do. They don't like it, so the fact that they flock to this gives me pause. I hate bad writing. So I'll leave the bad writing for those that don't know what good literature is and I'll stick with the good stuff.

Also it seems I lost the battle with AT&T because they screwed up I am stuck with the extra $60 on my bill. However it was originally an extra $110 so i guess getting almost half of it taken off isn't bad but come on, you screwed up and didn't sign me up for the right thing why the hell do I have to pay a second one time activation fee????????

Everything is already achey and uncomfortable, adding extreme sore throat runny and stuffy nose and a headache that feels like a semi in My face is unawesome. It also sucks that there is very little I can take for it. The things I would take are not recommended for pregnant women... This kinda sucks.

I don't care if you wanna put light bondage or more vanilla BDSM-leaning stuff in your erotica, like spanking. My problem is portraying it like your male lead is the Dom to end all Doms and like what they're doing is hardcore.

He does outright stalk her. Several times. He also, upon first meeting her, paid someone to pull up her address, bank accounts, credit rating, social security number, where she worked, and where she went to school. Hand to heart, I am not exaggerating this. It's outright stated in the third book.

There are three, and the author has mentioned writing another trilogy from the guy's point of view (but the chapters she did from his POV in the third book were really poorly received by fans, so I'm not sure if she's still going to).

So...

Hubby's grandma is dying. And, tomorrow he flies out to visit her one last time. And Monday he was supposed to fly back. But...somehow, when I bought the ticket, I fucked up and picked Monday MARCH 17...

So, changing his flight would cost over $400.

Renting a car for him to drive home would cost over $200, plus gas.

Driving up and back would cost about $130 in gas and take 15 hours, and someone has to watch the kids.



....but....


He can leave Sunday afternoon and take the train and be back Monday night around 9 pm.


And that costs the same as driving.



But we still freaking paid almost $500 for a round trip that we are only using half of...

If it makes you feel better, Thal, my parents just had a similar experience. Mum paid $800 for a flight to QLD to see her brother who just had two heart attacks. My stepdad set the alarm wrong so she missed her flight (well... both flights, 'cos it's two flights to get to McKay from here). Another $400 to buy a new ticket to get up there! Unfortunately it was the flight there rather than the one back, so a 22 hour drive to get up there when he was in hospital was not an option.
