I have snow for 8 months a year. I went bike riding today at -30, and my nose feels a little frostbitey.

I remember a girl in college who was from Puerto Rico and had never seen snow - the first time it snowed that year she ran outside in it just like a little kid and then called her parents, all excited, talking a million miles a minute! It was neat to see that kind of reaction.

No, crazy is the pile of clothes when I come in from the cold. And I mean, what else do I do? Waste my life 2/3 of the year, EVERY year? Never mind the weather, man - beeches gotta live.

I understand the whole freak at seeing snow for the first time. The first time I saw snow up in Washington state I was mesmerized,and standing outside with my mouth wide open and just amazed.

It's not -that- cold here, but we just had our first frost and the weather is getting pretty cold, pretty fast. You might just see some snow or even some -10 temps when you come visit!

My son-in-law from England was much the same - the amount and depth of snow, and degree of cold was totally new to him. We had to teach him to dress for the weather, and get him boots to play in the snow. All he had was a light jacket and canvas shoes...

I love living in the (US) Pacific North West. We still get all 4 seasons but not much snow. A tiny blanket, if any at all. And I like it that way. Keep that white shit away from me.

My interior holiday decorations are up! Tree, etc. I even put up a nativity set out of tradition, I kind of celebrate Yule as my primary, Christmas secondary, and Hanukkah too. I like Hanukkah because it's 8 nights so if I get the wrong day it's very forgiving.

I have a friend who loves them and I just don't get it. But I rarely eat vegetables (my mama didn't raise me right) so ... I don't get salads, either.
