      His early stand-up was amazing. No matter how many times I watch those shows, I still end up in a laughing fit. His pavlov's cats, the death star cafeteria, cake or death, language labs... Some amazing moments. I just don't find his newer material funny. It's like he just goes for the same old jokes with a slight twist and doesn't deliver them nearly so well as he used to.

      Not to worry though, I'm sure Boris Johnson, the current mayor of London, is terrible at stand-up.. ^^

        Netflicks used to have all his old stand up on and I would watch them constantly. I haven't seen much of his new stuff but if hes just half a@#ing it then I don't want to. I'd rather remember him in his glory days.

          I've never seen it. And I pretty much stand outside staring at the sky for hours every time there's a chance. But I have nowhere within a 2 hour drive that's dark enough... even the sea has sweden just across... but I'm thinking of a trip to norway or Finland to see them some time... now england is on that list.

            I've been working on the Winter Solstice ritual for my CUUPs group. I know it's quite a way out, but I'm pretty excited to be doing it. It'll be the second ritual I do for our group and I'm just hoping I don't mess it up. And that it'll be an awesome party.

              It's Sunday.. you know what this means? It means it's E3 tomorrow. The closest thing to a religious holiday my partner and his friends have. They go crazy, decorate the livingroom, drink way too much.. and last year it ended early when one of his friends had a seizure and split his skull open... I do hope they'll behave themselves this year.... :/

                Time for the Sunday shift. Which either means it will be very crazy or very slow. I hope it's the latter.


                Also, and I've known this for awhile but it seems to have been sucked into my subconscious during the past several months, but having an available, positive, and non-condescending way of behaving tends to make you more friends and gain you more respect than if you're just a tool. It seems to be an endemic in leadership positions floating around the webs (not here) and around this neighborhood.

                    I think you're the exception to the rule. :P
                    Besides, soul eating for the betterment of humanity as a whole, vs being a butt just for the sake of being a butt, are different things. ^^

                      Have you ever been a member of a large FB group? My gods.. now THAT is a breeding ground for people who think being admin of a stupid group gives them the right to be butts to everyone. I was in a group for zombie pets for a while then quit after 2 days having watched as some ignorant tart was rude to just about every new member who joined in that time.

                      It was sad to watch. That must have been the closest thing to anything resembling a position of power that person had ever experienced and didn't know how to handle it responsibly.

                      I've actually taken a step back from the forum I'm on the admin team of because the owner sent a warning to one of our most loyal and active members for an image he'd posted. It was that optical illusion of a lamp that looks like the close up of a lady's bottom. She claimed it violated our anti-porn rules. A lamp is porn in her world? What kind of sheltered universe is she living in? She didn't even consult us first. She just sent him a warning and took down his post, that had been meant as an innocent joke. Needless to say he stopped posting. An honest, active and friendly member of the community lost. The owner set up the forum before moving to Japan. She's out there now and she never visits the site, never updates. So I've stopped keeping it active for her. Maybe if she hadn't alienated her members I'd still post daily, but I just don't see why I should care if she doesn't care.

                        I was an admin on a troll board for a few years. I hate trolls. It's a long, weird story. I was still thinking that if someone was friendly to me, they were sincere. Silly me. LOL

                            He was a decent guy. He asked questions, joined in with language games, found interesting links to language resources and even played videogames in Japanese and posted them on his youtube channel. I wish she'd have just contacted the rest of her admin team for advice (as they do here when there's an incident with a member gone a bit rogue). I'd have pointed out how silly it is to get angry over a picture of a lamp, and at most put a little disclaimer on his post and tell him sympathetically, that I know it's stupid, but there are people out there who might find it offensive so I hope he doesn't mind that I'd had to add that to his post.

                            She also chased off an admin member who has a fairly popular jvlog channel on youtube. She was only young when she started her channel, and a bit too overconfident as teenagers can be, believing she was fluent when she was lower intermediate at best at the time, BUT she was popular, had the following to bring many new members to the forum and as she's grown, she's really matured and is much more realistic about what she can and can't do in Japanese, her writing blows mine out of the water and she is a good teacher and willing to help others to learn. I was the only one who voted to keep her in when we were debating letting her go. I still believe it was a huge mistake.

                            I'm just glad the forum owner's not my girlfriend. Just imagine, 'hey Jem.. wanna flick through some naughty magazines together?', then she whips out a swimwear catalog..' ^^
