That's just ... odd. I did notice that it is for the most part pretty generic that it could be used later for anyone else they decided to dedicate to. Simply change the name of the birthplace, and voila!

Is there any chance you can challenge them on this? A friend of mine just won a case against her former employer for a similar event. In either case, I'm very sorry this has happened to you. Can they fire you without cause??? Texas is a right to work state which means you have a right to work and they have the right to fire you at will but most companies have policies in place to just keep from firing people.

Cali is the same way. There are the federally protected classes. But if your work just hates you, they can fire you.

The cause was that I was still in my probation period, and they said I wasn't good at my job. Which is bullshit.

But it's okay, because I'm drunk now!

Connecticut is an At Will to Work state, as well. Granted, most places have a policy of creating a paper trail to justify an employee's termination, but it's not needed.

Also, it's 1:30 am and I should be asleep because I have to be in work for 5. But I woke up all phlegmy and coughing so I decided to browse the forums while I have a hot cup of tea to break up the goop in my throat so I can get back to sleep.

Yesterday's conversation about smoking made me remember something. I once took a job at a small co. in a small office building, which had "No Smoking" signs at the entrance. (I believe this was law at the time.) So, my first day, there's a guy smoking in the corner office. I spoke up immediately, and the owner said so-and-so's been here a long time and we let him smoke. I stayed as far away as I could but of course got sick, lost my voice, etc. I looked for (and thankfully found) another job right away. This June when I was in that area, I drove by that building...... Apparently it has burned down.

In this case, it was known as lying/misleading. I had brought it up during the interview, simply saying "I see it's a non-smoking building?" and the owner said yes, to which I replied, good, I wouldn't want to waste your time otherwise.


So what happened to the place is called Karma, IMO.
