The Christmas mayhem has begun!

I used to be a Christmas hater but I don't care anymore. My flat is completely a christmas free zone, that's enough. I can retreat there when all the Santas make my eyes sure. After all, it's a decent excuse for a few weeks' laziness.

I was just told that my uncle who has lung cancer has caught pneumonia. They don't expect him to last long, he's barely concious anymore... I'm sad, but also not shocked. But what's really going on inside my head is this: I have to go to the funeral, but I don't know if I can cope with even seeing my mother. I'm not ready for that...

I'm so sorry about your uncle.

We got a few inches of snow, and I'm thinking about how the first snow of the season always has a beautiful, magical feel to it for me.

And then I hate snow the rest of the year.

Normal snow reaction,I LOVE the magical first snow..then it turns dirty,and then is just a pain!!

In a way, I can't wait for the first real snowfall. I agree, it does seem so magical and special. Actually, I think it looks like that the entire season, EXCEPT when I have to shovel it, and then I wish I had a giant hair dryer to melt it all away.

I also like it when it rains the night before and I go take a few minutes at my outside altar. I have a stone bowl on it and so it collects the rainwater there. As a little blessing for myself, I always take a moment to dip my fingers into the bowl, and then touch my lips.

It's been snowing for a few hours now, it's starting to settle but oh my it was cold walking in. Turns out my new winter boots aren't all that waterproof

I should watch a two minute video of myself speaking enthusiastically about the campus diner. And then write an essay about it. Give me strength.

A neighbor of my aunt's has a Pembroke Welsh Yorkie. It is adorable. My personal dog is half Boxer, half Beagle, and somehow looks like a pit bull, so when I see a super cute dog it just melts my heart. I even got out the baby talk for the little thing (though I also get out the baby talk for my Venus Flytraps, so it isn't really significant).

I don't mind the snow.. or at least I don't now I'm old enough not to have to walk to school in it (I hate snowballs!). The cold though. Eugh, I really don't cope well.

It's not all bad though. I've discovered the joy of wearing two coats at once!! Not something I'd have done in the past because.. gods forbid someone sees my roundness and assumes I'm fat! Now that I care so much less about what other people are thinking in regards my body shape, I'm a big cosy ball of layers! ^^
