Setting the date for my zoo trip. I think I've decided to splurge for my friend and I and do the 1 hr Asia personal cart safari. It's $50 a piece. But that's not a problem. A good hour ride and some up close time with the animals seems worth it!

This happened in the town I live in, and about a mile or two from my sister in law's place. What's extremely profound is that he was given the all clear to eject, but chose to stay in the plan and guide it into the only empty field, rather than eject and risk it hitting civilians. "Hero" gets thrown around way too often, but I can't think of a more deserving title.

This is not at all uncommon. I don't know a single pilot that isn't prepared to take his plane all the way in if they have to. I'm fairly sure it's something they train to, though I've never asked.

When military pilots die without trying to eject it's either because something happens to prevent it, or this.

Very true. There was an Air Force pilot who rode an F-16 long after he was told to punch out to make sure it didn't go down in the city when I was stationed in Japan. He survived but he stayed in the seat until he was certain it would land in non populated areas as well as miss the security site. His chute barely had time to deploy before he hit the ground.

either way he left his mark on history,not just as a fighter,but in some political ways(against the Vietnam war,refusing the draft,and went to jail and kept from boxing for a wile)

Thinking that the humidity and heat is already giving me a headache and making it difficult to breath. Asthma, the lovely summertime kick in the butt for me. Used to love the summer and the heat now it darn near kills me.
