    Ah, you misunderstand - I don't think it will fix the system by any stretch...just that there's not much point in looking for the "best" candidate until that time.

    *EVERYTHING* looks good on paper...it's when you actually get involved in real meatspace that you have problems.

      OK, I get that.

      One thing I left out in my in my analysis of the voting public is what I like to think of as the "intellectual disease," the intelligencia - those who are educated and given to thinking, and who should be the clear thinkers - are subdued by fancy theory (ideology), rather than pursuing effective action (pragmatism).

      The government is in cohoots with big business, so let's go commie, or socialist, as if the cure for bad government is to heap more power into the hands of the politicos.

      Or... The government is in cohoots with big business, so let's free up big business from government controls (laissez-faire capitalism), and put more power in the hands of big business.

      Both solutions are equally idiotic.

      The solution, as I see it, is for people to take the power back to themselves, but that's the least likely event to occure, on accounta people being lazy, bitter, or stupid.

      So, as a pragmatist, I do what is effective. I practice "rational anarchy" (i.e. : existentialism).

          Two teen girls at the grocery store made my day 800x better. I wish I had the money to donate to their cause, but I hope my profuse thanking got my point across.

          Also, back to the negative oscillation regarding moving out and my fear of it (more, my fear of shelling out 18k/year that I could save by staying in an abusive household).... did I just type that? Sometimes I think my brain is all twisty.

              New girl is quick for a new runner and doesn't argue or attempt to tell me my job. This is awesome. I just need to ruthlessly crush any attempt to influence her training by another noob and this will be a halfway productive night.

                          I really feel like gushing one huge tl;dr text wall of doom, but I'll keep it short. Zoloft has changed my life - I'm the me I remember always wanting to be. I feel healthy and sexy and amazing.

                          I had an encounter with a rainbow serpent - beautiful, bright, shining Rainbow Serpent. She was definitely of the South American variety, and took me completely by surprise.

                          My marriage has suddenly erupted into a flaming hot sex-fest of epic proportions.

                          I'm creating, I'm dancing, I'm singing. Even the dog seems happier.

                          And I warn y'all, you're going to have to get used to a very different Perze 'round these parts. I have pheromones of Jack Harkness proportions and I'm not afraid to use them.
