Re: What Are You Thinking About?

Ya know my Father was Catholic,BUT he was a "Jack" Catholic. Kinda in name only, and his reason was because his Father was Catholic. taking the name of a religion does not mean that people actually follow it. Religion and belief are funny things sometimes.

Its not just our government, our citizens can be just as bad. It disappoints me so much to see us behave this way.

I have been disappointed by a Transformers movie. I didn't think I had expectations high enough to really accomplish that. Also could Bay stop having governments screw up in increasingly worse ways every movie. After a certain point, the Autobots = Friendlies should have penetrated the skulls of even government employees.

I don't care for sports or soccer. I just spent two hours watching a top 20 most shocking moments of the 2010 World Cup Soccer.

I'll find a more discerning descriptor when I'm done cursing humanity's urge to shop on rainy days. As is, my shift just doubled so that might be a while.

I feel slightly differently Just that if you can't fix it, don't do anything at all until you can. The IT world moves pretty quickly...and any IT guy can tell you what happens when software isn't properly fixed, but just patched. Again and again and again. Our Government is the same way: It has the appearance of functioning, but only if you ignore its intended purpose.

You are right , of course.

I had something specific in mind, which I don't want to go into right now.

Re: What Are You Thinking About?

I'm rather bothered that police are able to forcibly take pictures of the genitals of underage individuals, even if it's to prove that individual sexted to another underage individual (and thus produced and distributed child pornography). That situation bothers me on so many levels.

                            No, this actually is happening.
"They're using a statute that was designed to protect children from being exploited in a sexual manner to take a picture of this young man in a sexually explicit manner. The irony is incredible."
I get that the situation is different but it seems very wrong to do the exact thing the kid is charged with, even if the pictures won't be used in the same manner. I also have a problem with the whole jailing kids for sexting thing in general but that's a different discussion altogether. I wonder if I should make a thread..

                              Verification isn't exploitation. Evidence isn't age-specific.

Uncomfortable and ironic, it wouldn't be necessary if laws to protect children didn't have to be enacted, and if such laws weren't ever broken.

I find the whole thing disturbing and nothing short of disgusting. No surprise, then, that I'd find the search for evidence alarmingly uncomfortable.

I just read that story and I also find it very disturbing on many levels. I'm SO GLAD this texting/sexting/whatever wasn't around when I was a kid.
