    Just a day in the life at a tool store. Where we are about 50/50 men and women employees. Now that I come to think about it...we have 4 bosses and then the head cashiers (also members of management) all three of us are women. I'm pleasantly surprised by our 15 to 15 ratio!

                      Oh my gods I just got home. I cannot deal with you. My scholarship is due in a day and a half I do not have time for this. Just mop up your mess and put down the wine and the shut the heck up.

                      I've had less than a week to prepare for this debate and I'm so not ready. SO not ready when I can find no viable reason to oppose the topic and ever statistic I find seems to help my opposition. I need to seriously twist how to interpret some facts here to even have a chance.

                      Edit: I thought the posts would merge but it looks like I past the time gap there. I apologize.

                          Me too, to be honest. I loved the freedoms we used to have. (I wish I could get just a little taste of real freedom, right now: Freedom from pain, freedom to walk, freedom to not have to worry about my future living arrangements. Whichever. I'm not picky.)

                          And that's the whole enchilada, right there. If it can be taken away, it's not a 'right'. I won't turn the rant thread, here, into a debate, but I've a whole host of abominations, in this country, that our very Constitution did not prevent; rights that were unceremoniously stripped from otherwise law-abiding citizens. Freedom is a figment of a [collective?] imagination, an ideal that is fleeting, at the very best.

                          I will admit, however, that US citizens may enjoy more freedom than citizens of certain other nations, of course, but that doesn't quite equate with that freedom being a right, per se. More like a comparison in the lack of strict control over individuals' choices by their government.

                          In our case, those decisions were transferred to others, like media, corporations and direct marketing, etc., which, in turn, supports our government through election campaigns and revenue streams. I want a car, like say, a Tesla, that is readily available, affordable and doesn't count against me as a possession, a vehicle, under county or state assistance terms. Nope, I can't make that choice. They're neither readily available or affordable. And it would definitely count as a vehicle. We don't have a choice except in what choices we are given. "You want fries with that?" Your choice.

                          Then, this rabid stance of "my rights: this or that", like a dog having it's favorite chew toy taken from it, annoys the living shit out of me when it's NOT a dog but, rather, a human. "You can't take that from me, it's my RIGHT." Uh, no. Rights are easily taken away from anyone and everyone, any day of the week. So... so much for them f***in' rights, huh?

                            It's time to purge my crew. There are currently five people on it when there should be six, and three of those five are far from meeting our standards. Between attitudes and attendance, I just can't with this anymore. The newest employee got in my face the other night, saying I was "picking on her." This was after I relayed a message to her from the boss about what needed to be done and corrected, which by the way was relayed to everyone. Last night our Slacker Boy left two hours early without a word...after previously saying he needed to leave one hour early. The third has called off every night this week, claiming illness. All this during the week of a big inspection.

                            So, I'm taking the bull by the horns by finding new applicants myself via Craigslist. Already I have six people set up to get applications tomorrow morning. I can't wait for all this to be done and over with. Both my body and mind are in dire need of a break.

                                Speaking of slackers,this happened a while back in the 80's. We were doing a BIG job,so we hired about 10 temps.
                                One guy came in the first day,then disappeared,not to be seen until a week later when he came in to get his pay..He was never on the job,but had the balls to try and get paid for not being there.
