    No that is what Marx mentioned in his Communist Manifesto. That was how he was going to get the "revolution" started. Create class warfare to divide the populace.

          Yes, thank-you. I've read Marx. I just don't take him seriously.

                Sweden, with its high taxes and large welfare state, has a higher proportion of billionaires per capita than the US whilst also boasting the sixth largest economy and is renowned for income equality, suck on those freedom fries.

                Low taxes are inhibitive to start ups whilst more beneficial to those who have large investments in non monetary formats ie name and brand recognition, which means large businesses need to do very little to squash potential competition from small businesses as they can build up large surpluses to undercut start ups, sometimes even running a temporary loss if it means ensuring monopolies in future. Low taxes reduce small businesses as it is those on to who benefit most, whereas everyone benefits from high, but effective, tax. Small business owners are ordinary people who rely on public systems at first to live, such as the NHS. Low tax will not mean they will be able to afford private as private healthcare costs would just rise, in the meantime the quality of healthcare provided through taxation, such as the NHS, will deteriorate whilst opportunities for people to better themselves will reduce and monopolies can be maintained with ease.

                This is why we need a mix. For the record, the US is a mix, there are several state owned businesses, but they haven't got it figured out yet, that's all.

                    Well, as a Welsh woman with strong socialist inclinations, I am proud that the red flag was first flown in the UK here in Wales during the Merthyr uprising. And that Lloyd George who really founded the welfare state. And Aneurin Bevan who founded the NHS.

                    And where would be all be without Robert Recorde, that doughty Welshman who created/invented the equals = sign?

                          Does a tree making an acorn create a new tree? Or does the squirrel forgetting the acorn, the soil quality, the rainfall, the sun, etc create the new tree? Or maybe they all do.

                          If no one had bought Windows Bill Gates wouldn't need to hire people. Yes, business owners hire people, but consumers drive job creation. When consumers don't consume, it's called "Sorry, we have to let you go."

                          (and it's the problem of unrestrained capitalism--there's no such thing as infinite growth when there are finite resources and finite consumers--which is the part of Nick Hanauer's talk that most people miss)

                          What most people hear when they hear his talk isr the other half of the false dichotomy...and that's okay because its the under-represented half.
