The good news is that I get decent weekly hours at work now that I opened my availability to stay till 8pm without needing a ride home.

The bad news is that at that time I miss my last bus to my actual street. I have to take an alternative bus to down the street at the Stater Bros. It's about a 20 minute walk home in the dark. I leave work at 8:20pm. I get home at about 10:30 pm. Suck.

Turns out that today will be a bedridden day. 4 hours on sunday, spent mowing, plus doing laundry and some cleaning up/moving things, had me out of commission for two days. Yesterday, I spent about 2 hours on customizing a footrest on the mower, the proceeded to spend a little over 6 hours mowing. Out of comission, again. Damn!

On the bright side, I have roughly a quarter mile of trail mowed. Right up to the downed trees that prevent me from mowing the majority of the trail network. So all I have left to mow is out front, by the road, around the front pond.

          Just, not today.

That's supposed to begin on August 9. I'm not holding my breath fot it, though. Life, schedules and distance have severely crippled the potential turnout. This, by the way, is not a rant.

Road destruction, on the highway in front of our place, is set to begin on the 21st of this month, and should be completed by the end of September. Which isn't really a rant, since it is improving the roadway that hasn't seen improvement since the early '60s.

Not one single campsite has been cleaned up, mowed, or even visited at all, at this point. That is a rant.

I'd like to make an 8 1/2 x 11 journal, with a 3-ring binder mechanism so I can add pages.

I can find leather for the cover. I can find chipboard for the covers. I can find full-on book-binding & repairing materials. I can find all sorts of thingies for spiral-binding...

But a single (or even small-quantity) 3-ring binder mechanism? No where. I have to order them in bulk lots.

I could dismantle an existing binder, but drilling rivets out of things is not my strong suite. And they don't make good high-quality chipboard-cover binders anymore, at least not at a decent price. I can buy 'artist portfolios' for outrageous prices, though.

What about taking the plastic off (There's typically cardboard or something under the plastic lining on the cheap ones) an already made binder and putting the leather on? Or just putting the leather on top?

                      Re: THE RANT THREAD!

I've been feeling really, really depressed lately and I don't know why. I guess I'm just really stressed out.

I'm sick of making so little money and I can't really see the light at the end of the tunnel. I like what I do, but it pays so badly and lately the kind of work I've had has been really uninspiring and monotonous. It probably won't stay that way, but the pay probably won't get better anytime soon. I've been thinking about what else I can do, but I'm moving in a few months and the job search process here is slower than in North America. Anything I'd find on short notice would be just as badly paid (or worse) than what I'm doing now and 10 times more boring than my most boring tasks.

I think of what I can do over the long term and I just -cannot- think of anything. I do not want a desk job. Every time I've had one, my health has taken a nosedive and my depression just skyrocketed. I find sitting at a computer all day to be one of the most straining tasks there is. I write, so I'm at the computer a lot now, but because I am self-employed I can leave whenever I want. I made jam in the middle of my day today. All non-desk jobs seem to either be badly paid or involve a lot of specialist education that I won't be able to do (plus, I'm not particularly keen on being a doctor or engineer and by the time started university from scratch, I'd be too old to be in the German job market...yay for ageism!) Technically, I'm only qualified to write, play and arrange music (good luck getting paid ANY money to do that), and do online marketing (I HATED working in online marketing. I'd rather just give up and be a homemaker than work in online marketing).

If I am honest with myself, if I gave up writing, I'd like to be a gardener, a cabinet maker, or a seamstress. Something with my hands where I'd be on my feet. But there aren't any jobs in those fields in this country. Gardeners work at supermarket garden centers, people buy cabinets at Ikea, and if seamstresses can get work at all, they're hemming pants for 7 Euros an hour.

I don't want to be so negative, but I just honestly don't know what I'm doing with my life.

Every moment of a life is a horrible tragedy, a slapstick comedy, dark nihilism, golden illumination, or nothing at all; depending on how we write the story we tell ourselves.

Look up Brahams Bookworks...they should still be around, they make hand-made leather grimoires (bought one for GG a few years ago)...beautiful craftsmanship, and you can add pages

Woke up today and decided I wanted to go swimming with a friend.... Got up called him, went and picked him up, we just had to make a quick stop to go buy me a bathing suit, I needed one anyway as my old one.... Well it just doesn't cover what my momma gave me......
so, yeah, women don't get to just "make a quick stop" for a bloody bathing suit.....
anything they make big enough to go over the girls, is currently just built for people who want to hide, and I don't! Why did it take 2hours and 5 department stores to just find a black halter top bikini top? Why was that so freaking hard? Not to mention the poor friend who had to sit there while I dealt with all that.... My husband feels bad for the guy.......

Hell hath no fury, applies to bathing suit shoppers....

Have you gotten so angry that it literally felt like everything inside of you was fried because of the amount of heat contained inside? It happened today at work towards my boss. I try to keep myself in check because I know I have a temper, and I can come across as a huge b*tch. But today? I wasn't really able to hold it in. I was getting so angry that my vision got blurry and I couldn't hold my paperwork steady. I was shaking so bad, and I couldn't breathe. I was also projecting like crazy because of it.
